The Essence of Rioja Alavesa with Eguren Ugarte Wines

The Eguren Ugarte winery is nestled in Laguardia, a medieval walled village, where its vineyards benefit from the unique climate and soil of Rioja Alavesa.

This region, famous for producing some of the finest wines in the world, offers a perfect environment for the Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano grapes that are the cornerstone of Eguren Ugarte’s offerings.

EWGA Wines is thrilled to offer a selection of Eguren Ugarte wines to its UK customers. Whether you are a seasoned connoisseur or new to the world of wine, Eguren Ugarte’s offerings provide an authentic taste of Rioja Alavesa.

Eguren Ugarte Joven Wines

The ‘Young Wines’ selection offers three wines harvested in the last two years. These wines offer excellent value for money and can be an excellent choice for Spanish house wines or everyday drinking.

The Eguren Ugarte Blanco is a blend of 5 varieties giving it good intensity, elegance and aromatic complexity.

The Eguren Ugarte Rosado is made from the red grapes of Tempranillo and Garnacha, allowing the wine some of the classic Rioja characteristics with an easy-drinking body.

Finally, the Eguren Ugarte Cosecha is a classical Rioja blending youth and maturity.

Eguren Ugarte Aged Riojas

The ‘Aged Wines’ or Crianza range from Eguren Ugarte matures in their cellars inside French and American oak barrels, after which it is bottled. These wines are bottled under ‘The Rioja Qualified Destination of Origin’ procedures, ensuring their excellent quality. This range consists of Blanco Crianza, Crianza Tinto Tinto and Crianza Reserva.

Eguren Ugarte Single Varietal Wines

Next, we have the ‘Single Varietal Wines’ which feature wines made from single grape varieties. This group of wines offer great quality and unique traits reserved for each grape variety.

For example, the lesser-known red grape of Graciano is a variety native to Rioja. This grape has small bunches and is challenging to grow, however, the reward is an intriguing, modern, crisp wine with potent aromas. Likewise, the Garnacha Blanca is one of the least cultivated varieties in Rioja and one of the oldest. Early budding and small bunches mature slowly but produce extraordinarily aromatic must and wine, with remarkable acidity that gives it great ageing potential.

Such interesting wines make a great supplement to any wine list.
