As we step into 2025, it’s a good moment to reflect on the challenges and successes of the past year while setting our sights on the opportunities that lie ahead. The wine industry, like many others, has faced a unique set of circumstances but we remain optimistic for a good year ahead of us.
Overcoming Challenges of 2024
The 2024 wine-growing season across Europe was marked by excessive rainfall, significantly depleting harvests in many renowned wine regions. For example, France’s wine harvest is forecast to fall as much as 16% compared to the previous year. Despite this, we’re proud to report that we experienced no significant supply disruptions thanks to the strength of our relationships with our wine partners.
Managing Pricing Amid Duty Increases
While inflation has led to only minimal pricing changes in the wine industry, the UK government’s 2024 duty hikes—rising by 150% relative to inflation—presented a significant challenge. These increases have put pressure on both the industry and consumers.
We’ve worked hard to minimise the impact of these changes, maintaining competitive pricing without compromising on quality.
Wine Trends in 2025
Looking ahead, several key trends are set to shape the wine industry in 2025. EWGA Wines is well-positioned to respond to these evolving consumer preferences:
Modern, Approachable Styles
The demand for approachable wines with a touch of residual sweetness is on the rise. Consumers are seeking wines that are easy to drink yet full of character, making them perfect for both casual and special occasions.
The upcoming launch of Artizan: Smooth Red is our response to this trend. This modern red wine balances softness with rich flavour, offering an accessible option for wine drinkers. Wines like this align with shifting preferences, meeting the needs of modern wine consumers whilst respecting winemaking traditions.
Lower Alcohol Wines
More and more consumers are looking for lower-alcohol wines, hence our new Brisa de Verano range of naturally lighter wines with alcohol at a moderate 8%. There is a growing preference for lighter, lower-alcohol wines that appeal to health-conscious consumers seeking balance without compromising on flavour.
Brisa de Verano range consists of a light Sauvignon Blanc and a Rosé, both wines are crafted from Chile’s cool-climate vineyards to offer a refreshing and modern wine experience. What’s important, is that they are naturally lower in alcohol thanks to the cool vineyards and winemaking choices. They are not de-alcoholised like some alternatives on the market. As a result, they have all the freshness and flavour you would expect from these wines.
Both wines are perfect for casual dining and social moments. Every sip captures the lightness and joy of a summer breeze.
