We’re #NWFBA2022 Finalists.
The awards are organised by The Family Business Network which connects family businesses to provide a voice, a sense of belonging and an environment for learning and development. One of the ways that they accomplish that is through events and award ceremonies where family businesses like ours can showcase their accomplishments and communicate their ethos.
As EWGA Wines celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2022, we thought it would be the perfect time to participate. And, we could not have been happier with the decision. Not only are we shortlisted as finalists for two categories, but we also, met a host of great people and other fantastic family businesses and the organisation behind the awards has been great.
After the initial awards application and being announced as the finalists, we are now awaiting a judge’s visit to our premises before they make their final decision. The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on Friday 13th May at The Rum Warehouse, Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.

Our Employee Of The Year – Janette McLaughlin
When we were working on our application for the North West Family Awards, we were not aware that each company could nominate an Employee Of The Year from their organisation. It was an obvious choice to nominate Janette!
Janette has been a loyal and dedicated member of the team at EWGA since she started as the first employed sales person in 2000. She has developed within the company from a sales representative in the Lake District to a company director, overseeing the national sales team and also other operations. During that time she always has the best interests of the company and its staff at the core and has been instrumental in the development of the business as we see it today.
Her constant enthusiasm and innovation to ensure that the business continues to grow and prosper go hand in hand with her desire to grow as an individual. During the last 12 months, she has completed a Level 7 CMI qualification in Leadership and Management. This combined with her natural people skills means that everyone in the business appreciates her and absolutely enjoys working with her. The same sentiment can be heard from her customers who adore her positive attitude and friendly demeanour and appreciate her wine knowledge and extensive experience.
Similarly, the community and people around her are also very important to her and the desire to give back can be seen in her completion of the Great North Run half-marathon for the Carer Support South Lakes charity where she raised over £1,300 on her own, adding to nearly £5,000 raised overall by the whole fundraising group. Janette also participates in community educational efforts, like when she visited the Dallam School’s careers event where she talked to students about what our company does and the career opportunities in our industry.

Our finalist spot in the People’s Choice Award means that we were nominated by another business or member of the public, which makes the nomination even more special to us. Thank you to all who nominated us. We appreciate it dearly and it motivates us to continue offering the best customer service we can and do even more for our community.
