Environmental Policy

EWGA Environmental Awareness Policy

At EWGA, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices across all aspects of our business. This policy outlines the steps that all employees—admin staff, warehouse staff, and drivers—can take to minimize our environmental footprint. Every small action contributes to a larger positive impact, and we encourage all employees to actively participate in this collective effort.  We have an Environmental Management System (EMS) which complies with the international accreditation ISO14001.

General Guidelines

  1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
    • Reduce: Be mindful of resource use, such as paper, water, and electricity. Only print documents when necessary, and consider digital alternatives whenever possible.
    • Reuse: Reuse materials such as packaging, envelopes, and office supplies wherever possible.
    • Recycle: Follow the recycling guidelines provided. Ensure that all recyclable materials are disposed of correctly in the designated bins.
  2. Energy Conservation
    • Turn off lights, computers, and other electronic devices when not in use, particularly at the end of the workday.
    • Use energy-efficient settings on all office equipment and ensure heating or cooling systems are used responsibly.
    • Encourage the use of natural light whenever possible.
  3. Waste Management
    • Aim to reduce waste generation by minimizing unnecessary consumption of resources.
    • Segregate waste according to the recycling guidelines and ensure hazardous materials are disposed of safely.

For Admin Staff

  1. Paperless Office Initiatives
    • Embrace digital communication and document management systems to reduce paper usage.
    • Encourage double-sided printing and reuse paper that is only printed on one side for internal use. Only print a document if you really need to.
  2. Sustainable Office Supplies
    • Choose eco-friendly office supplies made from recycled or sustainable materials.
    • Consider the environmental impact when ordering supplies and opt for products with minimal packaging.
  3. Energy Use
    • Ensure that all computers, printers, and other office equipment are set to energy-saving modes.
    • Switch off personal computers, monitors, and other devices at the end of the day.

For Warehouse Staff

  1. Efficient Use of Resources
    • Minimize waste by using packing materials efficiently and opting for reusable packaging where possible.
    • Be mindful of water and energy use within the warehouse and report any leaks or inefficiencies to management.
  2. Recycling
    • Follow the warehouse recycling protocols and ensure all recyclable materials, including cardboard, plastics, and metals, are properly sorted and disposed of in the correct bins.
    • Reuse materials like pallets, crates, and containers whenever possible.
  3. Equipment Use
    • Operate warehouse machinery and equipment efficiently, turning them off when not in use.
    • Regularly maintain equipment to ensure it operates at peak efficiency and reduces energy consumption.

For Drivers

  1. Fuel Efficiency
    • Drive in a fuel-efficient manner by avoiding rapid acceleration and harsh braking.
    • Plan routes to minimize fuel consumption and consider carpooling or combining trips where possible.
    • Keep vehicles well-maintained to ensure they run efficiently, including regular tyre checks and servicing.
  2. Idling
    • Avoid unnecessary idling of vehicles. Turn off the engine when stationary for more than a minute.
    • Use air conditioning and heating sparingly to reduce fuel consumption.
  3. Sustainable Practices
    • Ensure that any waste generated during deliveries is disposed of responsibly.

Training and Awareness

  • Employee Training: All employees will receive training on this environmental policy, ensuring everyone is aware of their responsibilities and the actions they can take.
  • Continuous Improvement: We encourage staff to provide feedback and suggestions on how we can further reduce our environmental impact.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Performance Monitoring: We will regularly review our environmental practices and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency.
  • Reporting: Any environmental concerns or breaches of this policy should be reported to management immediately.

Conclusion

By following this policy, all employees at EWGA can contribute to a more sustainable future. Together, we can make a significant difference in reducing our environmental impact and promoting a greener workplace.
