55 Years of EWGA
EWGA will be celebrating their 55th year in business next February and it is amazing to think that some of the producers that were included on the first list can still be found today.
The company motto is from grape to glass and we truly believe that having great relationships with our suppliers is a key to our success. Customers have become increasingly discerning and we want to have confidence that our wine selection offers the best quality at the price. We don’t buy the cheapest we can find, we buy what we believe offers great value to our customers and their customers.
Customer service is one of our guiding principles and we need to have confidence in our supply chain from the grapes being grown in the vineyards, the skill and expertise shown in the winery and reliable logistics partners to get the wines to us when we need them.
EWGA and Vitevis
A great example of one such relationship is our key Italian supplier, Vitevis. Valeria Quagiotto first approached us in 2007 not that long after she joined the company (Colli Vicentini), her timing was just right, we started a conversation, she sent samples, jumped on a plane to meet us face to face and nearly 20 years later we have developed a great working relationship. As their company has grown to include the addition of Cantina de Garda and Cantina di Gambellara under the Vitevis group so have we.
The development of labels such as Romeo and Juliet, Colli Vicentini, Alpino and Cantina de Garda which are key parts of our portfolio is a true partnership between the two companies. We have also worked with some of our customers to introduce exclusive labels to give them their own brand using wines from Vitevis. We were saddened to hear that Valeria had decided to leave the company and start a new chapter of her life but she is leaving a very capable team that she has shaped and guided. We have just spent a very enjoyable day with Guilia Marcazzan seeing the end of the 2026 harvest, visiting the wineries and seeing the investment in a new bottling and labelling facility capable of processing up the 9,000 bottles per hour. The changes that have been made, the plans for the future and their commitment to sustainability very much matches our company’s ethos.
We know that the quality of wine, service and support that we have come to know and trust from Vitevis is in good hands under Mr Gambesi, Giulia, Alice and the rest of the team and that the wines that our customers have come to know and love will still offer the same grape to glass quality that we rely on.
